- What type of people
does Diamonds in the Rough help?
Diamonds
in the Rough helps children between the ages of 6-15. We focus
on kids that lack the necessary financial wherewithal to actively pursue
golf, and children that, due to illness or sickness, are unable to participate
in sports that require significant physical exertion.
- Is the program open
to both boys and girls?
Absolutely!
As long as criteria and requirements are met, boys and girls are welcome
to all facets of the organization’s programs.
- What regions does
Diamonds in the Rough offer services in?
At
the present time, programs are geared toward participants in the United
States. Currently, instructional offerings are based primarily in California.
- Do your
programs run year round?
Yes,
our organization is active year round, as are our programs.
- Who is
eligible to participate?
Participants
are selected after filling out a screening application. Precedence is
given to those who are motivated to participate and who have the greatest
impediments (financial or physical) to enjoying golf.
- I know
a child interested in participating in the program. How do they join?
We
would love to hear from you and them! Use the “Contact
Us Page,” to let us know of someone who would benefit from
becoming a “Diamond”.
- What is
required to volunteer to assist with the programs?
We
look for people that love working with kids, coupled with a passion
for golf. Prospective volunteers must undergo background checks and
reference verification in order to best ensure safety for the children
and families participating.
- How can
I become involved?
If
you are interested in becoming a volunteer or have an idea, please let
us know through the “Contact Us Page.”
We are also looking for golf teaching pros to become involved in our
program.
- Are my
donations to Diamonds in the Rough tax-deductible?
Yes!
Diamonds in the Rough is a program of Inner Voice Community
Services, a 501(c)3 organization licensed in the state of California.
Your generous contributions are 100% tax-deductible.
- What
is Inner Voice Community Services?
Inner
Voice Community Services is the parent organization of the Diamonds
in the Rough program. The goal of the organization is to serve
communities by providing real, tangible benefits to the many sectors
we serve. Although IVCS sponsors many programs, rest assured that 100%
of your contributions to Diamonds in the Rough go to
that program and that program only.
-
On my credit card bill the donation reads that it was made to Inner
Voice Community Services. Why does it read that way?
Inner
Voice Community Services is the parent non-profit organization of this
program. All donations are routed through IVCS in order to streamline
the organization’s accounting operation and to provide the tax-deductible
benefit to donors. The monthly statement you receive will detail this
as well for your records. Should you have any additional questions please
call or email us at anytime.
- Can
I make a donation in honor of someone else?
Yes,
you can. When donating, please specify on the site that you wish to
make a donation in honor of someone else. You will be prompted to enter
his/her name and you will receive a receipt that reflects your commemoration
donation.
- Why
can’t I make a one-time donation on the site?
For
our non-corporate donors we ask that those interested in helping Diamonds
in the Rough sign up for an automatic monthly donation. Many
non-profit organizations spend much of their annual budgets on fundraising
instead of actually helping those in need. Instead of spending tens
of thousands of dollars on marketing, we prefer to have donors willing
to make a consistent monthly commitment. To accomplish this, we ask
for a very low commitment, starting at under $20 per month. It may not
seem like much, but multiplied by many thousands of donors across the
country it makes a significant contribution. And by doing this, the
organization can focus on bringing golf to kids, instead of extensive
fundraising. If you are interested in making an additional donation,
or do not own a credit card, you may send a check or money order to
the address listed on the “Contact Us
Page.”
- Can
companies donate items for an event?
Yes!
If your company is interested in donating items to the program, please
let us know. Companies such as Upper Deck and EA Sports have donated
items such as golf trading cards and video games for us to use as giveaways
at our events. Kids love them! However, we are only interested in new
items.
