Diamonds in the
Rough
We
provide golfing opportunities to children whose daily activities
are limited due to financial or medical constraints. We help kids
who will benefit from the game of golf and appreciate and learn
its lessons of perseverance and striving for excellence.
We endeavor to share the sport of golf with those who do not have
ready access to courses or driving ranges. Through our charitable
activities, we provide 18-hole golf course access, equipment and
instruction. We help our kids forget, for a time, any limitations
that have prevented them from participating in sports in the past.
Diamonds
in the Rough programs include: fundamental golf instruction,
swing mechanics, rules of golf, and course management skills --
all provided by excellent professional and amateur golfers.
Diamonds in the Rough helps children with physical,
learning, or emotional challenges develop good habits, interpersonal
skills, and positive attitudes through applying themselves to the
sport of golf. Kids need challenges that can be met and overcome.
Golf gives them this opportunity. For many children, participation
in contact sports is not an option due to illness or medical condition.
Since golf by its nature is a non-contact sport it has all the advantages
gained of other sports without any of the possible disadvantages.
We bring the rewards of golf into the lives of young, novice golfers.
Children learn best in safe, fun and challenging environments. The
greens and fairways of a golf course are beautiful settings for
learning, enjoyment, and character building.
Diamonds
in the Rough additionally helps young people build upon
successes gained on the golf links. We believe that this is an important
step towards creating the foundations for a positive self-image.
Golf provides large and small opportunities for children to succeed,
one putt at a time.
Among the most valuable activities in a child’s life are those
that are fun and educational. Golf is both, as it tests a child’s
skills and character while providing realistic challenges to meet
and surpass.
Diamonds
in the Rough also provides regular 18-hole course access
scholarship opportunities for talented young golfers who cannot
afford regular play because of economic limitations. We offer financial
assistance so that those who demonstrate real promise and a strong
desire to excel can have the opportunity to regularly improve their
skills.
We ask for your help in bringing these programs to as many children
as can benefit from them. All contributions to Diamonds
in the Rough are 100% tax deductible. Please consider a
small financial commitment, starting at under $20 per month. This
may not seem like a large sum, but multiplied by thousands of donors,
your contribution will greatly benefit children across the country.
